2018 is literally whizzing by. So many things have happened this year that keeps reminding me to spend my time with who and what matters. A bit difficult at times but I am making a personal commitment to making it happen!
On a recent weekend outing, I came across a really cute childrens bookstore that quickly brought back nostalgic memories of my childhood. I must admit I was a bookworm and enjoyed going to the library and bookstore every weekend.
Finding this cute shop, and being able to find different ways to get my son excited about the world of books and reading made my day!
While we waited for our brunch reservations we spent a good 45 minutes playing, reading and exploring in this local shop. Being a(nother) comfy, lazy day, I pulled out my yellow, Princetown slides and a velour-ish feel dress I picked up ar Nordy’s. Perfect for transitioning into Fall. I swear I definitely got my $$$ worth on these babies–they work with everything! 😊
And of course I found a book to take home. There was a collection of books aimed towards teaching kids about prominent African American figures /heroes of our time: Michelle Obama, Harriet Tubman, Jackie Robinson etc. I lucked up and got the last copy featuring Bob Marley. Super hyped about this! Being of Jamaican descent and my family having personal ties to Bob Marley it was a no brainer to pick up a copy for my son. It is important for me to pass on and keep our culture alive.
The Blue Manatee Childrens bookstore; will be one of our go to’s for indoor fun as the weather turns cooler.
Are you or your kids reading anything interesting right now? I am quickly finishing up “The Energy Bus.” Life can be so crazy with everything being thrown at you. This book is great because it just reminds us that we choose how we approach situations and our energy can effect any and everything around us.
